Barbara Montague Herbert, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away Saturday, February 18, 2012 in Payson, Utah. She was born in Mammoth, Utah, on January 16, 1942, to Lionel M and Geneva Lee Montague. She attended schools in Payson, Utah.

She married Shanley Scott Sorenson. They had two children: BJ and Scott. They later divorced. She married Russell Herbert on September 12, 1966 and they adopted two children: J Russel and Julie Ann.

Barbara was a homemaker much of her life, but, she also managed bowling alleys and bars in Texas and Japan. She attended cosmetology school. She loved to travel, was passionate about history, enjoyed reading, the outdoors, nature, and hunting for arrowheads. Barbara loved going to Yuma, Arizona, for the winter. She was an extraordinary game player and very sociable.

She is predeceased by her parents and her son, Scott. Survivors include her husband, Russell; daughter, BJ Alvey; daughter-in law, Darlene (Scott's wife); son, J Russel (Tina) Herbert; and daughter, Julie Ann (Mike) Higgins. Also surviving her are 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Diane (Gary) Bradford, and Sandy (Doug) Huff.

A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at a later date.
