Vivian LaDean Pierce Beckstead
May 31, 1933 – February 17, 2012

LaDean, our loving wife, wonderful mother, incredible "Grandma B", and thoughtful friend returned to the arms of her Heavenly Father on February 17, 2012. She fought a long and valiant battle with diabetes, and finally succumbed to a cardiac arrest.
She was born on May 31, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the first daughter of Otis and Vivian Pierce, and lived in Draper, Utah until her graduation from Jordan High School. While at Jordan, LaDean was a Charlonian, and took top honors in Speech and Debate. She continued to be a proud Beetdigger throughout her life.

On August 15, 1951, LaDean married her eternal sweetheart, D. Ravell Beckstead in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, and they were blessed with nearly 61 years together. Their desire to serve LDS missions took them to Auckland, New Zealand, Springfield, Missouri, and the Provo MTC. They also enjoyed many years as ordinance workers in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple.

LaDean was active in her community, participating in both the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the Utah Valley Quilt Guild, and serving as an election judge for many years. She loved quilting, baking, creating special Christmas treats, scrapbooking, and traveling. However, her greatest accomplishment and her lasting legacy is her family. She was truly a Grandma extraordinaire!

She leaves behind her husband, Ravell, two daughters, RaDean (Brad) Meyers, Randolyn (Jeff) Smith, one son, Ryan (Kristin), eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, one brother, Shelby (Tammy) Pierce, and one sister, Joy Wilson. She was proceeded in death by her parents; son, Dee; and brothers, Stewart and Tom Pierce.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Cascade Stake Center, 481 East Center Street, Orem, Utah. Viewings will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, and at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to the services. Interment at Orem City Cemetery.

Anyone wishing to make a donation in her name please consider the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund, Temple Building Fund, or the Temple Attendance Fund.
